3. About myself
My name is Anne de Man. I am 18 years old and I live in Eindhoven. I am studying Science & Food at the Fontys in Eindhoven. My hobbies are playing hockey and watching films. 

4.  Advising a friend

There are a certain aspects you have to think about when you are writing an academic paper. First of all you have to write the paper in the passive and use the third person. You don't usually use the words: I, you, we. When you use these words it'll make it look unprofessional. For the readers of your paper it is not important to know who did something, it’s important to know what was done and how it was done. It’s also important that you write your paper in the past tense, because your experiment is finished.

The second aspect is that you have to follow the IMRaD rule. IMRaD stands for introduction, methods, results and discussion. This means that you have to start with an introduction. In a paper, an introduction is beginning section which states the purpose and goals of the experiment. In the introduction you can write some background information about the experiment. In the method you write when and how the experiment was done. The next thing are the results and after that comes the discussion. In the discussion you discuss your results of the experiment. After this, there is a conclusion. In the conclusion you answer your research question which was mentioned in the introduction.
